Should I learn Django in 2024?

/ #Django

JavaScript frameworks like React, Vue, etc, are really popular these days. But what about Django?

Is Django still relevant in 2024?

Django is built on Python, and Python is the most popular programming language in the world in 2024. There is basically nothing you can't do with Django. Even big companies like Instagram and Mozilla uses Django.

Anyways, Django has been around for as long as around 19 years now. And I still remember when I saw the introduction of Django back in 2005. The introduction was called Snakes and Rubies and it's where both Django and Ruby on Rails was introduced to the world. A lot of things has happened with Django since then, but many of the core ideas are still the same.

So, should you learn Django in 2024? My answer is absolutely! Not just because I'm a huge fan of Django, but because it's easy to get started with, many small and big companies uses it, and it has a huge community support.

The numbers of stars Django has on GitHub is also a good indicator of how popular it is. As of writing this, Django has over 80k stars on GitHub.

What's so good about Django?

First of all, Django comes with batteries included. This means that Django has a lot of built-in features that you can use right away. This is something that you don't see in other frameworks like React, where you have to install a lot of different libraries to get the same result.

Django also has a lot of built-in features that make it easier to develop web applications. For example, Django has a built-in authentication and authorization system, a built-in database ORM, and a built-in templating engine.
